Emergency Preparedness Week

2026-05-04 18:01:44.86 +0000 UTC
<p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 3-9, 2026, as Emergency Preparedness Week in the province.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The 2026 theme, "Be prepared. Know your risks" is a call to action - urging everyone to spot the risks around them, get informed and take steps to protect themselves and the people they care about.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">"Emergency Preparedness Week is a time to build your family's emergency plan and create a 72-hour kit for both your home and vehicle," Community Safety Minister Michael Weger said. "Ensure you are ready for unexpected situations and protect the safety and well-being of you and your loved ones. It's beneficial to take simple, proactive steps today to protect you and your family in the future."</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) encourages residents to be ready for the unexpected. Emergencies can take many forms, so thinking ahead and understanding different scenarios makes all the difference. Knowing what to do - and how to prepare - puts you one step ahead when it matters most.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/77a5cfa7-6088-4030-bc55-c4dc56528b43" alt="ep week social media 02 en" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p>

Believe... Belong... Become...

Dreambuilders High School began operations in 2001 as a partnership between the Yorkton Catholic School Division and the Yorkton Friendship Centre. In its first year of operation, the school was located at 310 Myrtle Avenue, Yorkton. In its second and third years, the Yorkton Catholic School Division partnered with the Keeseekoose First Nation. The school was then located at 17-5th Avenue. In its 4th year Dreambuilders found a permanent home when the Travel Lodge Hotel on Broadway West in Yorkton ceased operations and the facility was taken over by SIGN (the Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbours). With room to expand and a new partnership with the Good Spirit School Division, Dreambuilders moved from offering general programming to providing much more specialized programming in three critical areas: (1) middle-years (grades 6-9) students, (2) high school (grades 10-12) students, and (3) through a partnership with CanSask/Community Resources – a Transition to Work program for students whose goals are to enter the world of work.
